Thirteen Thai nationals have been sentenced duping Marina Bay Sands (MBS) club out of $1.37 million in what a judge portrayed yesterday as a case “unparalleled both as far as complexity and total bamboozled”.

The nine men and four ladies, matured 24 to 53, each got prison sentences of between 12.75 months and 17.25 months after a region court listening to that finished a month ago.

The syndicate set up a deceitful plan to acquire money chips between May 6 and 7 in 2013. “This was obviously the biggest syndicated gambling club bamboozling operation that had struck Singapore up to that point,” said District Judge Soh Sze Bian.
